Profile Peer Reinhard, CEO and founder Quality Online

"The promise of IT was that it would empower organisations and the people that work for them to be more creative, productive and to share knowledge. Of all the companies and projects I've been involved in, Quality Online is by far the most directly engaged in freeing these potentials."

Peer Reinhard is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Quality Online, a company that provides integrated business process management services. The company's client list includes blue-chip clients with a combined turnover of over 60 billion euros. Every day, over 50,000 people use QOL Enterprise Applications at 300+ locations around the globe.

Reinhard was a successful software programmer by desire, is an entrepreneurial spirit by nature, and a corporate manager by necessity.

An early start trading marbles in primary school led to the part-time jobs he had throughout his school years. In addition, while still attending Delft Technical University, he started one of the country's very first white-label music stores in Rotterdam.

Reinhard discovered his passion for building software while working at Philips (Eindhoven), in 1968. Seven years later he began his own software company, R&V Information Systems, and was at the leading edge of several technological breakthroughs, most notably combining the mini-computer, low-cost UNIX mainframes and ERP systems into one compelling proposition.

By 1982, R&V had over 100 small and mid-sized companies as clients for its ERP systems. The company went from strength to strength, including a listing on de Unlisted Securities Market in London, until the recession of the early 1990's required taking the company back into private ownership.

In 1993, Reinhard began the firm that would eventually become Quality Online. Initially focused on collaborative systems, the company's mission was to create software products that would help frontline workers to work together more effectively. Just three years later, "Quality Online" was its first fruit.

The product offered a software solution for the then-universal problem of how to efficiently establish and maintain certifications for quality systems. It was hugely successful, immediately attracting large companies like Royal Dutch Telecom KPN, Novartis, Toshiba en Dupont as clients-- an unusual phenomenon for a company that had a total of just six employees.

It became apparent in 2001 that Quality Online's underlying Lotus Notes platform was no longer future-proof. Quality Online developed its wholly-original Java Application Platform for launch in 2003, and successfully migrated all its existing clients to the new platform.

From 2003 until 2005, Reinhard focused on opportunities for growth by opening a branch of Quality Online in San Diego, California, where he undertook business development for the firm.

Since his return to the Netherlands in 2005, Peer Reinhard has continued to build the company's client and knowledge partner base. And with his international and highly-qualified team, he is constantly advancing the scope and capabilities of Quality Online's Enterprise Applications.
